James Joseph Murphy baptized on the 19th of October 1863 in the Diocese of Clogher, Cleenish, son of Patrick Murphy and Jane Cassidy from Skreen. He emigrated to Boston, Massachusetts, USA arriving 27th of April 1877. He married Johanna Burke (from Thomastown, Cnty Kilkenny) on 25th of July 1886 at St. Patrick's in Roxbury, Massachusetts. Together they had nine children, many with descendents still living in the Massachusetts area. James worked for the Boston Elevated Railway Co and was a respected member of the community according to the obituary published in the Boston Globe. He died on 3rd of April 1899 of Pulmonary Tuberculosis.
