Mary was the daughter of Laurence Daly and Honora Quinn. She was born in Ballynamoragh, an old section of Ballymacmague, in Dungarvan Parish, County Waterford. The exact day of birth is unknown but her baptism was on the 15 Aug 1834 and the sponsors to her birth were Jer (poss Jerome or Jeremiah) Morrisey and Mary Sweeney.

She had seven siblings: Daniel (1825), John (1827), Alice (1828), Patrick (1830), Laurence (1832) Eugene AKA Owen (1836), and Catherine (1841). The siblings were all born in Ballynamoragh, County Waterford, Ireland.

Mary immigrated to Yonkers sometime in the late 1800s and settled in Yonkers. She was Godmother to Owen's son Thomas, and her sister Catherine Daly May's children: Bernard, Thomas, and John.

At the time of her death she was living at 2 Dale Place. She never married. Her siblings Owen Daly, Alice Daly Spratt and Catherine Daly May all lived in Yonkers, and are mentioned in her obituary.
