  • Mary died in Ridgetown Ontario on Aug 3, 1874 and is buried in Ridgetown.  The Garvin family continues to own "the Castledawson Arms," an historic pub in the Town of Castledawson.  I have a fair bit on the family and other famiies of the Magherafelt area that I will happily share:  ronaldjdale@netscape.net

That is wonderful news. Since I don't live in Ireland, it would be lovely to learn about the Garvins still there and about the area they lived in. Mary was my ancestor and she and her husband James Johnston and their children emigrated in 1867 to southwestern Ontario, near Ridgetown. I live about 45 minutes away from there. Mary's parents were Stephen Garvin and Isabella Suffern. The Suffrens came from the Antrim area. James Johnston, Mary's husband, came from the Castledawson area as well, I think.  Thank you very much! Greensleeves (my name is actually Susan)
