Mary Loughran was born in 1836 and baptised the same year at Armagh.  

Her parents were Rose Anne Smith Born April 1794 in Newry, Co. Down and Hugh Loughran also born 1794 from Newry, Co. Down.

The siblings of Mary Loughran were:  Catherine B 1829, Bernard B 1834, Felix B 1834, Teresa B 1840, Michael B 1842, Felix B1843, Jane B 1844.  

Mary Loughran married Robert Gault on 14th August, 1957 at Newry and they had a daughter Marianne Gault the following year in 1858.

They migrated to Australia and arrived in December, 1858, travelling on the ship "Forest Monarch" which carried many people who had infectious diseases.  As a result, they were quarantined  at the Quarantine Station.  The idea behind it was that anyone arriving in the colony (as it then was) who might have an infectious disease would be kept in quarantine until it was considered safe to release them. They then settled in Redfern, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia and had another 7 children.

Mary Loughran died 12th November, 1911 in Alexandria, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
