Migrated to/Born in New Zealand

Michael Foley is my great grandfather. He was born in 1853 in Rath, Tralee to Daniel Foley and Ellen Dillane. Michael, his siblings & parents, along with his fathers father John and his wife, all lived in the Quill Street cottages built by the Rev. McEnery (?) to house the Catholic poor, rent free around the 1840-50 period. I'd love to know more about this time and place in history and about the family - if anyone knows, or has ancestors who also lived in the same accomodation. Michael left Ireland for New Zealand in the mid 1870's and eventually settled in the Taranaki region. Thanks for your contributions to my family story, in anticipation. Shane.
