Michael Kearney-Southwell 1858

Back to List

Michael born 1858 to Michael Kearney, die 1945 Slane (Barristown?).  His obituary refers to him as being an "outstanding cricketer in the village"  his wife, mary Morgan, also originated from Slane.

The family took on the name Southwell around the time of WW1.  Why change their name, and why Southwell?

The grey headstone is for Thomas Southwell, Dublin Fusiliers, who died from pneumonia contracted at the barracks in Dublin in 1916.

Trying to find Father of Michael.
