  • Actually, it seems that he is my ancestor. But we do need more proof to comfirmed this. As their is no records left in Ireland (and nothing in Canada about where he came from in Ireland) only yDNA tests can help us to find links with other Wades who still lived in Ireland or in England.

Our ancestor, Michael Wade came to New Brunswick, Canada between 1834-37. He was already married with Margaret Walsh. We think that they came from the port of Cork or Waterford on came on board of a Timber ship on is way back to Canada. So they probably put their feet in the port of Chatham (Miramichi) in NB.

Michael Wade and Margaret Walsh moved to the North East of the province (Now Acadian Peninsula) and settled in Pokemouche. They had 7 children:

Hannah born 1834-36 probably in Ireland.
William c. 1837 during the sail or Caribou Creek (Cowans Creek), Pokemouche, New Brunswick, Canada.
Mary Ann 17 March 1839 Caribou Creek (Cowans Creek), Pokemouche, New Brunswick, Canada.
Margaret ''Peggy'' 17 March 1842 Caribou Creek (Cowans Creek), Pokemouche, New Brunswick, Canada.
Francis James 1 June 1844 Caribou Creek (Cowans Creek), Pokemouche, New Brunswick, Canada.
Michael  Jr. c. October 1846 Caribou Creek (Cowans Creek), Pokemouche, New Brunswick, Canada.
John between 1848-1852 Caribou Creek (Cowans Creek), Pokemouche, New Brunswick, Canada.

Margaret Walsh had a sister named Bridget Walsh (married to John Hayden, neighbors of the Wades in Pokemouche). on her death notice it says that she was born c. 1813 in County Kilkenny. So that a path I explored. with the help of Mary Flood of the Rothe House of Kilkenny. She did find a marriage certificate between ''a'' Michael Wade and ''a', Margaret Walsh 10 April 1834 Assumption Church, Templeorum Kilkenny. but we can be sure at 100% that they are the right ones.

All the catholic Wade from the Acadian Peninsula ( some now in Quebec, Ontario and USA) are descendants of them.

If you are a Wade from the area of Carrick-on-Suir, Kilkenny or Cork. Please let me know. Your yDNA can help us to know our roots and complete our family tree whitout any doubts.

    Thank you.

    Danny Wade

NB: I know that there is some hypothesis about an Arthur Wade can be the father of Michael Wade... the thing is, which one? So we re working in this... and any help is welcome.
