Owen Hynes was born in Newry in 1815.  He and his wife Ann (nee McNulty) were Assisted Immigrants who arrived in Sydney, NSW Australia, on 21 April 1840. Owen was a Farrier and Ann was a Dairywoman.  Both were Catholics and they could both read and write.

Their daughter, Catherine was born on the ship, on the way to Australia. Owen & Ann had 4 children born in Australia; David b 1841, Owen Augustus, b 1845, John b 1847 and Anne b 1850.

Owen died in Drake, NSW, on 11 Feb 1908.  His wife Ann was born in 1814 and died in June 1889.

Owen's parents were David Hynes and Anne Connolly.
