I am searching for my g-g-grandfather, Peter O'Rourke, and family. He was born in 1810 and came to America in 1827. I've been searching for more than 10 years and have finally found a Peter O'Rourke here in Carigallen. I am hoping that someone - somewhere - has information regarding him.
Prior to that I thought he was from Sligo.
He had several children and I understand it was tradition to name your children after your ancestors. Their names were: Mary Elizabeth, Ellen L., Peter Cornelius, Sarah (after his wife, Sarah Byrne), Charles (after wife's father), Francis John, Anna Maiggy, and George Myles. I think... his mother's name may be Elizabeth.
He met and married Sarah Byrne in Pennsylvania.
He had a very close friend, James Conroy, who was from Ireland and came to America (exact date unknown). James lived with them or next to them for all his life. Peter was a tailor by trade and James was a shoemaker. I cannot find a thing about James anywhere!
When Peter died in 1874, James married Sarah.
