Robert Lendrum Greer was born in 1827 to Martin Greer and Lucinda Crozier.  The family lived on the Montgomery Estates in Mullaghmore Townland, County Tyrone, about 5 miles out of Fivemiletown. 

His father and uncle Robert Greer both died in 1833 of unknown causes. 

Robert's mother took him and his five siblings and emigrated to America in 1834.  Accompanying them was his aunt, Catherine Lendrum, widow of Robert Greer, and her 13 children. 

The family first emigrated to New York State and then moed to Rushville, Schuyler County, Illinois in the late 1830s where the family became established and thrived. 

Military Info:  Served as captain of Company C of 119th Illinois Infantry during Civil War.  He organized the company and was elected captain. 
Sent home from Tennessee in 1863 and expected to die of illiness contracted on the battlefield.  (Lived until 1910)
