Back to List

My Great great grandparents Patrick Henry Sullivan and Elizabeth Hyland are from Clonbullogue, Clunsast, Kings County.  They immigrated to Onieda, New York, USA  in 1824 for the building of the Erie Canal.  Patrick Henry is the son of Patrick Brendan Sullivan and Margaret Rita Elizabeth Honan.  Elizabeth was the daughter of Thomas Hyland (born 1760).  The Hylands were recruited to come to America, by Thomas Ennis, to work on the Erie Canal. The group built St. Mary's Catholic Church on Irish Ridge in Onieda, New York.

Then my great grandfather, Thomas Sullivan married Mary Flynn, also from County Cork, Ireland settled in Western New York , near Buffalo.

I found out through 23 And Me that I am in the H23 haplogroup.
