  • Hello,

This tree is already researched by two living relatives and myself? Maybe you have the deatils too but if you want to connect to living researchers let me know?

I am also working on the possible ancestors of Walter as this is a hotbed of Corw efamilies - over one hindred in the 1800s, mostly up to the famine

  • Hi,

    Great to hear from you!
My great grandmother was Maggie Taylor nee Crowe from Ballagh and I only recently started researching her family tree so it's fantastic to hear that other family members have been researching the tree too.

Walter was my GGG grandfather, his son John my GG grandfather was also a tailor in Ballagh and his eldest surviving daughter Maggie married my great grandfather Phil Taylor. Maggie and Phil's family still live in the area.

I have bits and pieces on the extended Crowe family, you probably have most if it but I'd love if we could connect and compare and contrast what we have.

    Fiona.

  • Thanks so much for getting in touch!

As a group of Crowes (known collectively as a Murder - no kidding) we met early this year in Thurles and we have been working away on various aspects.

I am interested in at least a dozen lines that come from Glenaneigh, bordering Clonoulty and most of the Crowes are reputed to have started there and spread out. I have a one name study and am looking to make a website about the same over the winter. I have Taylor as a recognised marriage relative name of Crowe (Crough, Croagh and Croak plus others are local variants of Crowe)

I am going to put you in touch with John Crowe who is also a relative of Walter's and his cousin Liam who lives in Thurles. We have another relative Una but for now it is not important to you, maybe later.  John is very enthusiastic and would love to swap stories and data. His sister and I have a DNA connection but John and Liam are not so keen on the DNA. John is by his own admission a 'pen & paper' man and loves records on paper/photos. He works off his phone, no computer. However, he has newspaper cuttings and has chased relatives into Australia and Spain.

At this point I think it is better that you contact me directly rather than here  crowe.seamus@gmail.com and then I will give you the contact details for John and the others I have a DNA test and am happy to give you the details I will also send you later this evening anything I know I have about Taylors and Crowes.

Look forward to hearing from you
