William Hogan was a remarkable man for his age - a poet and internationally reknowned nationalist writer. He was a member of the Portumna Board of Works. Several personal possessions of William such as his private notebook dating from 1860 remain with the local Feerick Family. Several members of his family emigrated to the San Rafel part of California, USA.
