I am researching the Abberton family. Every family group I've come across in the world goes back to your area, but I can't find a connection between our groups once they've ended up in Australia. With so few families in the world and all hailing from the same area, I feel they must have been connected back in Ireland, but I don't have the evidence. My branch has Patrick Abberton married Eleanor Hickey. Once they got to Australia, their children married members of the Tuohy, Hennessey, Roughan and Conroy families, all names I've come across from this area. Any evidence of connections or further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There are 4 Patrick Abberton birth/baptism records on www.rootsireland.ie/ (a pay site)
They are 1838, 1860 1873 & 1898
The 1838 & 1860 are from Woodford RC
There are 40 Eleanor Hickey birth baptism records but none in Galway; no marriage record either.

You might want to have a look at the Tithe Applotments 1823-37 & free online
There are 16 Abbertons in Galway all in Ballynakill and 29 Hickeys in Galway with 14 in Ballynakill
No mention of Woodford in the parishes
There are 252 Tuohy birth/baptism records in Galway so if you have first names you could search in Galway on rootsireland; 65 Hennnesseys in Galway, 83 Roughans & 1036 Conroys
Here's hthe good news: there are 20 Tuohys on the Tithe Applotments in Galway - 19 in Ballynakill with 3 in Woodford!
No Hennesseys, 10 Roughans & 10 Conroys but none in Ballynakill or Woodford

Adding on to the great leads that Col, Provided, below is the 1856 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Ballynakill parish. Quite a few Abbertons including a Patrick Sr. and Patrick Jr. in Abbey townland.

That Patrick 1860 is possibly belonging to my Abberton’s from Woodford RC his sister Bridget is my Great grandmother she also had a brother Francis who came to Australia and sponsored Bridget. Their parents Mary Shiel/Shield & Michael Abberton.
