Hi everyone, looking for any info floating around about John Alley in particular from Glenbower. I know Anna Alley daughter of John Alley/ Jane Sides married Joseph Reid and had a family in this area, however I am not sure which John Alley was living here (out of the many possible John Alleys!)- it could be her father, born about 1803 and died 1888, Sergeant of Police (RIC), or could be uncles, cousins etc. Her brother John emigrated in the 1850s. Thank you for any help you might be able to provide.

Hi Paddy, that is an excellent point!
Most of the family were Church of Ireland and for quite a few generations family members were ministers of various parishes, including Donaghmore (Rev Peter Alley I, II and III), Rev Henry Alley (Skeirke), Rev Charles Alley (Castlecomer, Gowran, the Rower), Rev Henry Baldwin Alley ( Offerlane) and Rev John Alley of somewhere in Kilkenny. These were around the 1700-1800s.
One branch of the family became Catholics- they lived around Loughill in Kilkenny. Thank you for any assistance you may be able to provide! Stay safe.
