Hello, I am researching my Irish roots with great difficulty from Baltimore, Maryland, USA. However, I recently learned that my gg grandmother, Ann Rooney, may have come from County Kildare. She was born ~1832, emigrated to the US in ~1853. She married James J. Flynn, possibly from County Waterford. Not sure if where they married, but current working assumption is that they married in Liverpool in November 1851. James Flynn and Ann Rooney had nine children, all of whom were born in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, USA. Their names were: John (born ~1853), Mary Elizabeth (~1855), Thomas (~1857), Ann (1859), Margaret Mary (1860), James S (1865), Joseph John (1866), Catherine Clare (1867), and Agnes (1869). Ann Rooney Flynn died on October 5, 1894 in Philadelphia. James J Flynn died on November 22, 1886 in Philadelphia.
Does this family sound familiar to anyone?
Many thanks,
Ann Marie

Dear Ann Marie
Have you tried locating James and his wife on the UK Census 1851? I add a link below for your information.
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/census-records.htm
You could also try a search on Ancestry for the marriage I question.

As you say, there are a lot of Flynn names in that part of the country between 1820 and 1830, so you will have to try to work out what Flynn family is yours from the records you have already obtained. Is there any further information you could use from death certificates in the US or is this an avenue you have already tried?
Best wishes and Happy St. Patrick?s Day
