Believe Anna Marie Kelly is from Co. Mayo.  Protestant, came to U.S.A. in 1855, met her future husband on ship, a Patrick Hanrahan, Catholic.

Have no information on her birth, parents or other family members.  Appreciate any help.

Story goes that her parents dis-owned her when she married and converted to RC.  Possible her parents also came to USA.

Patrick's parent listed on his death certificate as Michael and Bridget Cunningham.  U.S. authorities changed Patrick's last name to henderson, guess they couldn't understand him when he arrives.  Have not been able to find anything on Patrick either.

Believe they arrived on the Cornelia lawrence in Jun 1855 in new York.

  • Hi Chuck

    There are 10 birth/baptism records of Anna Kelly born 1838 + - 1 year on www.rootsireland.ie/

However none is from Mayo. It is not possible to search for the middle name as well unfortunately.

    http://ifhf.rootsireland.ie/quis.php?page=1&confirmPageView=Y

There are 4 from Sligo (next to Mayo) 2 from each of Tipperary Limerick and Tyrone.

Tyrone would be more likely to be protestant.

I couldn't find a birth record for Patrick.

The Marcy Webster Neal Chaffey Daly Hyde tree on ancestry has Anna's birth as 1839 & Patrick as Hanrahan or Henderson but I couldn't find that (Henderson) birth either

    http://trees.ancestry.com.au/tree/690588/person/6124586416?ssrc=

The 1839 records in the 10 mentioned above are 1 in each of Sligo, Tyrone & Tipperary.

It does cost to view the full record on www.rootsireland.ie/ but would give you a parish and POSSIBLY parents' names.
