I've just taken another look at the marriage of my 3 x Great Grandparents, John Quirke & Catherine Slattery. John & Catherine were married 1/6/1829 at Mothel Kilkenny. The denomination was Church of Ireland. John was born in St John's Well in 1800 (baptised 26/1/1800).
Catherine's place of residence on the marriage is listed as being Ballisallagh. I did a google search and the only thing that comes close is Ballysallagh House at St Johns Well.
Does any one know if there was actual parish/place of this name. Trying to narrow down her baptism. Maybe she worked at the house (?). Catherine died in New South Wales in 1891, with her age being 81. I'm not sure if she was born in Kilkenny or Tipperary. The shipping record has her parents as Patrick & Mary (both dead) and her native place was near Clonmel Tipperary.

Hi,
Thanks for your message. A very useful website when it comes to Irish place names is http://www.irish-place-names.com/
As you can see from the above, Ballysallagh is a townland in the civil parish of Kilderry in CO. Kilkenny:
Ballysallagh House is probably found in this townland.
Formore info on Irish land division follow this link:
