  • William Cashen born about 1799 in Ireland,  married Sarah David of Molasses Harbour (now known as Port Felix) Guysborough County, Nova Scotia. Their marriage in St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Guysborough, Nova Scotia was 17 April 1825 and lists William Cashen age as 25 years old. The witnesses at this event were John McDonald, Peter Shanahan, and Thomas Fitzpatrick.

    William Cashen and Sarah David had ten children:

    William Cashin b. 1826; Michael b.1829; Mary b. 1830; John b. 1833; Ellen b. 1835; Margaret b. 1837; Patrick b. 1841 d. 1896; Thomas b. 1847; Charlotte b. 1845; Jane b. 1853; all children were born in Guysborough County, Nova Scotia. Many families in this community were Irish and French Acadian. William and his familiy had many ties with Irish families in Erinville, Guysborough County, such as Hanifen, McDonald, Kennedy, Fitzgerald. Other names in the community were Casey, Meagher/Marr.
