Hello. I am writing from Canada and attempting to clarify the parents of Peter Cogly/Cogley/Quigly from Wexford born circa 1815. Possibly Bree.  I have searched the nli registers available to me but have come up empty handed.  Also searched Roots Ireland with no plausible results.  However, the following information is available through "The Genealogist".  (Wondered if anyone could verify, as I cannot afford their subscription fee.)  Any information/suggestions gratefully received. !!     Jill

  • Hello Patricia.  Thanks so much for this information.

Peter went on to marry Alice Jackman in Newfoundland and had 5 children:  Mary, Thomas, Catherine, Peter and Alice.  I understand the firstborn son is often named after his paternal grandfather, so I was hopeful that Peter's father would prove to be Thomas.

Neither Patrick nor Michael appear in connection with Peter and Alice's children.... hmmm

I will definitely store your information going forward.  Jill
