My wifes Gt Gt Gt Grandfather Michael O'Connor was born on the Mount Trenchard estate in 1814. He entered duty as an Excise Officer at Limerick in March 1837. After working in Astbury, Cheshire, he spent the last 20 years of his life in Liverpool .

Our understanding is that his parents were John Connor (c 1770-1862) & Bridget Sheahan (c1774-1861) & that he had at least one brother, Patrick who went to Australia under the auspices of Lord Monteagle.

Michael's wife was Honoria Higgins who came from Oranmore in Galway. We can find no record of their marriage & the details of some of their children born in England is confused.

  • Unfortantely church records do not cover Michaels baptism in 1814 as they do not start in that area until 1824.

The Mount Trenchard Estate records are held in the National Archivrs.

There is a John Connor mentioned in them as you see in the link above.

Best of luck with your research
