I inherited the early 1800 family Bible of Cornelius O'Brien recently.  During the 1960s, my grandmother had written some of this family tree in it.  I am searching for more information about these ancestors, listed by grandma.  Any help with this would be WONDERFUL!

Here are the 9 O'Briens, siblings I believe.  She wrote that Cornelius immigrated from Burrie, Ireland to Canada or United States in the mid 1800s.  I wondered whether she meant Bruree?  I do not know which of these were born in Ireland and which in North America?

1. Cornelius O'Brien married Catherine O'Leary -- my great great grandparents (children: Mary Theresa (m Edward Farrell), Daniel (m Nell?), Cornelius (fireman Syracuse NY), Edward J (m Anna Wheeler lived in Canada), and Jeremiah (1861-1893 m Anna Moran, lived in Syracuse NY, my great grandparents).

3. Michael O'Brien married Mary Sheedy (children: Edward, Daniel (m Josephine Ryan), James (m Katherine Lee), Margaret, Minnie, Jerry (m Nora Lynch), Kate (m Joe O'Connor), Michael (m Mary Kinnely)

4. Jenny O'Brien married Micheal O'Leary

5. Elizabeth O'Brien married John O'Leary

6. Johanna O'Brien married James Garrity

7. James O'Brien married Mary Collins

8. girl? O'Brien married WIlliam O'Leary

9. girl? O'Brien married boy? Underdown

  • Thank you for your messsage, Brendan.  My great great grandfather Cornelius had a son Jeremiah O'Brien born in 1861, who is not listed here.  So, I'm wondering whether this Cornelius O'Brien is the one I am looking for or not?

    I see that you do research for a price.  I'm not ready to purchase help, yet.

    I answer questions free of charge on Ireland XO, I do not expect to be paid a penny.

    Civil registration started 1864 for Catholics, I have listed two children born after that date.

    I have no doubt we have the correct family, Jeremiah may turn up in church baptism records, where did

    Cornelius and Edmund die, there birth records must co-respond to their death records.

    Thank you again.  I do not have death dates yet for Cornelius O'Brien (lived in Syracuse, NY) nor his brother Edmond / Edward (lived somehwere in Ontario, Canada).  My grandmother's notes have Cornelius death as Oct 1, 1882 or 1892 (difficult to read). .
