Hi.  I have great grandparents from limerick. Denis Cronin and Johanna Guerin. They had the following children:  Dennis 1829, John 1838, Alice 1839, Mary 1842 and Bridget 1846. They arrive in New York before 1860. I was wondering if there was any research I could do to learn about this family. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thank you, Mary New York

I may have a different family but when I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland, I came up with four baptismal records in the parish of Rockhill and Bruree. This parish is a long was from Limerick city. Baptisms for the parish start in 1825 but there is a gap for 1835 and also another gap from 1837-1840. The four records I located were children of Denis Cronoin and Johanna Guerin. The children were Margaret baptized March 7 1830 (she likely died young) since there was another Margaret baptized May 20 1831. There was also a Patrick baptized February 11 1842 and finally Johanna Baptized September 8 1847

I realize that the names I located do not match your names and the parish is also different. St. Mary's records are available on Roots Ireland but no records came up for the parents listed.

    Let me know.

    Roger, you always amaze me.
They could have had children that I am not aware of.
Do you think this couple is unique enough to confirm this is my ancestors.

or do you think I'm being too hopeful.

Maybe too hopeful but possible. Cronin is a common surname but Guerin less so. Can you find the family in the 1860 and 1870 censues and see if the 1847 Johanna is listed? What we don't know is how many children died in infancy or very young and never made the trip.

I was thinking that Guerin surname being not as common also. I do have the couple on two census records. 1850 and 1860.  I might have found their death index today. Will order them tomorrow. Thank you ever so much, Roger

Pallasgreen and Templebredin parish is a good deal away from Rochill and Bruree and also Limerick city. German and Guerin are not real close. I will venture to say that the record is not for your Johanna.
