Hi all, sending from Canada.  My 2nd GGmother was a Jane Cullivan from County Monaghan. Her parents were John Cullivan and Mary Jordan.  Jane came to Canada in 1847.

What I am trying to out is exactly where as listed in her marriage record from Ontario, Canada, here attached.

To me it looks like Ahahany, Co Monaghan but I can find nothing like that in the listings for Mohaghan.

I was wondering if someone here could tell me where it may have been and what it is today.

Thank you in advance.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Possibly the entry is Aghabog parish in west central Co. Monaghan.

You don't indicate religious denomination but if they were RC, records for Aghabog RC parish start in 1840 so no baptismal record would exist unless Jane was a small child when she emigrated.

Thanks for the reply Roger.   Sorry, it is RC according to what I know.  Jane was 22 when she came here in 1847.  In the attachment, it is hard to tell what is there but I just don't see a "g" but then again, it could have been mis-heard and written as heard.

Is Aghabog close to the Cavan border near Cootehill?

Reason I ask is that her husbands parents were from Co Cavan and we thing it is the Cootehill area.  They were Felix McCabe b. ca 1778/79 and Margaret Smyth(e)/Smith ca 1779/80.

Again, thanks Roger. This is one "wall" I have been battling to break through for over 20 years now and still nothing but we keep finding little bits.

Here is a link to a map of Co. Monaghan https://johngrenham.com/browse/county_civil.php?county=Monaghan   Aghabog is parish #1   Not too far from Cootehill in Cavan.
