I have recently had my DNA done and I am 100% Irish. The only great grandparent/great-great grandparent I've found from a specific place in Ireland is Daniel Morris, born 1796, died 1873, and is from Dromore, county Tyrone. I would love to find more about him, his wife Mary Monahan, and anything else. All of my great grandparents came from Ireland but I cannot find any information on where. The names include Hart, Dunn, Smith, Coyne, Donague, Tucker and Reagan. Any assistance would be wonderful, as I plan to come to Ireland next May. I live in Kaua'i, Hawaii. Mahalo!

  • I can’t find a Daniel Morris death in Tyrone in 1873. However there was one on 15.6.1871 aged 75, registered in Omagh (which includes Dromore). So that fits fairly well with your information regarding Daniel’s age. You might want to start by looking at that death certificate. It should tell you where he lived, his occupation and whether his wife was still alive or not. You can view the original certificate on-line on the GRONI website, using the “search registrations” option:

    https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk

You will need to open an account and buy some credits. It costs £2.50 (sterling) to a view a certificate.

If you post the details from the certificate (or an image of it) on this board I’ll try and find a little more information for you.

Also what denomination was he, do you know?

Aloha Elywn, I'm so sorry, I've just seen your reply! I went to the website and viewed his certificate, and it doesn't show me his occupation, just that he was a widower. And I don't  know what his denomination was either. I have attached what I was able to view, it wasn't the whole certificate. I will go back and pay more for the enhanced view, if that would be helpful. Thank you so much for your help!

  • Yes you need to view the whole certificate to get the name of the townland where he lived, his occupation etc.
