I'm looking for ancestors of my husband's great great grandfather Daniel Shean. He was born in 1823 somewhere in Ireland. He immigrated to the United States before 1856 but I can't find his immigration record. About 1856 he married Cecelia (Celia) Susan Noel, most likely in Derry, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania where she was born. Celia was 15 years younger. After the marriage they moved to Rock Island County, Illinois. They had 9 children. Their first son born abt 1856 was named John, he died in infancy. 10 years later their 5th child was also named John, so I think this might be the name of Daniel's father. Daniel's last name must have been Sheahan or Sheehan and was changed later. He is listed as Sheahan in the 1860 and 1870 census, as Shehan in the 1880 census and after that only as Shean. He was Catholic. He fought in the Civil War and was injured. He died in 1889 in Illinois Soldiers and Sailors Home located in Quincy, Illinois. He was buried in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois. I can't find his obituary or death certificate.

  • Hi Elena

There is 1 baptism record of Daniel Sheehan 1823 on www.rootsireland.ie/

    It is in Limerick

His father's name is not John or Daniel

You need to purchase credit to view the full recod but it will have the parish and MAY have the parents' names.
