I had great luck here connecting with the Hobbs family (we continue to email!) several years ago and after this post:https://irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/news/irelandxo-insight-irish-surnames-101where it states that the Duignan-Dignan name can be found in Killimore I thought I would try again. I know my Dignan ancestors were born in Loughrea. My direct ancestor. Patrick Dignan (born 1814), went to Australia first, (around 1839, can't find any proof of the year) with his brother Peter and then he went alone to Auckland in 1842 (I do have the passenger list for this one). Patrick's father was Peter Dignan and his mother was Margaret Lynch. His siblings aside from Bridget (1818) and Peter (1820) were Mary (1811), James (1816) and Margaret (1823)-maybe a different Mother-Margaret Cunningham??. Mary married Thomas Hobbs and we know they lived in Killimore. One of the daughter's married into the Hough family who also lived in Killimore. Margaret married ? Coughlan-we think it is Michael bc Patrick's son was christened Michael Coughlan Dignan. Again, maybe there are ancestors still there. Thanks for considering my question!
