Does anyone know if the surname McGlinch/McGlinchey comes from Ulster, if so where, or if it is somewhere else, where?

  • Hi Kath

There are 12 McGlinchys in the Tithe Applotments 1823-37 (free online) with 9 in Donegal.

In Griffiths Valuation 1848-64 (free online) there are 203 with 76 in Donegal 106 in Tyrone & 17 in Londonderry so from Ulster for sure!

Do you have the name of any ancestors and an approximate birth year so we could try to find the county and parush for you? If not, tell us what you know and we'll try to work back from there.
