Hi,
I am searching for Doyle family members in Bansha.
Specifically:
- the baptism of my gggrandfather, James Doyle in about 1811 (his mother was Mary Conway and father possibly William)
- the baptisms between about 1840 and 1850 of seven of his children with wife Julia Leary – William, John and James (twins), Maria, Annie Eliza, Julia Teresa, and Margaret May.
I have been fortunate in finding other records for this family from Galbally on the ROOTSIRELAND site ie marriage of James and Julia, baptism of two younger children and baptism of Julia and her siblings. However, names I had were O’Leary and Crowe which appear as Leary and Croagh in the Galbally records. I am assuming that these are alternative spellings.
Hope someone can help,
Regards,
Jill Booker

It seems The parish priests in Galbally Aherlow dropped the "O" and Mac from names when recording names in this register.Crow , Croagh are all spellings of the local Crowes as they are known today
If you require further help on your Doyle or Conway research - please ask

Hi Jill, not sure what you might have found but we have alot of information about the famiily here in Australia my grt Grandfather was Michael Vincent Doyle son of James Conway Doyle (mother Mary Conway) and Julia O'Leary born Bansha Tipperary, he was a baby when he arrived , the twins came out first , then rest of family followed .There are children also born in South Australia but for some reason under name Conway not Doyle, please get in touch if we can help in anyway. The differnet spelling of Crowe and O'Leary is a really interesting thing to know about . All the best Kate

Hi Kate,
Have just found your message (didn't get an email) and am very excited to hear from someone who might have more family information. My great grandmother was Julia Theresa.
Two of the difficulties I have had is finding the arrival in Adelaide and the birth of the youngest two children. I have just done a quick search and cannot find them registered under Conway either.
I would love to exchange information with you. My email address is booker@esc.net.au if that would be easier to make contact.
Regards, Jill

Hello again Kate,
Great excitement! Just after I sent last message, I did yet another search of "Ship's List" for SA. There they were -under the name of Conway! So thank you for that hint. Do you have this information?
