Looking for a connection to Daniel Doyle, married Anastasia Connor, St. Andrew, Bagenalstown 1835.  Lived in Garryhill.  Believe they may also be related to a Doyle family in nearby Balliankill with names John Doyle, Patrick Doyle.  Also a Martin Doyle who died 1947 in Ballinakill.  .

Children of Daniel and Anastasia Doyle - Luke, James, Martin, Daniel, Patrick.   They left for America about 1848 with Daniel and Patrick Doyle, the other children having died earlier.  Supposedly one child died on the ship over.

  • Dear Irish Lucky:

Thank you for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out message board and welcome to the site.

There are baptismal records for James, Luke, Martin, Patrick & Daniel on the Roots Ireland website as well as a marriage record for Daniel & Anastasia which I'm sure that you are aware of.

As to connections with other Doyle families in the area, the sponsors' listed on the baptism records may give you clues as to other family members which you can then follow through with other Doyle family baptisms that took place in the 1830s and 1840s.  The parish registers on the National Library of Ireland website that you would be interested in is the parish of Dunleckney.

I note that there is a Doyle family listed in Garryhill in the 1901 Census and this might well be a cousin to this family.  You might check the baptism details of this person on the Roots Ireland database.

If you need further information, please let me know.

    Kind regards,

    Jane.

  • Thanks, Jane.  I have felt this Doyle family was a cousin, but unfortunately, have not located a living Doyle to prove it, although have spoken to people in the area during a visit from the U.S.

    Regards,
