Does anybody know of a family of Duncans who emigrated to Australia from co. Donegal--their  Father was John Duncan and the children were called Connie and Thelma. They were cousins of my Grandmother Martha Duncan from Raphoe and I can remember meeting them when they visited England in the fifties.

  • Tess38,

A John James Duncan married Christina Gallogher at 1st Raymoghy Presbyterian on 1.12.1937. He was a farmer from Balleighan. Don’t know if that’s the right family.

Here’s that family in the 1911 census:

Balleighan is between Letterkenny and Derry close to Lough Swilly, and a few miles north of Raphoe.

  • Hi Tess - are you wanting help with Australian records?  If so - can you give me more info - full names and birthdates?  approx years they came to Aus?

  • Hi Bunty, Sorry I only just saw your reply. The only thing I know is that the father was John Duncan and the daughters were Connie and Thelma Duncan and they visited England in the 1960s to visit their cousin, my Grandmother Martha Irvine. I think they must have been in their sixties then. Their father was probably an immigrant from Donegal,Ireland. I remember meeting them, but sadly that's all I can remember. Thankyou for any help.
