Edward Boland (Bowling, Bolen, Bolin) sailed from Cork, Ireland to Charleston, South Carolina in 1767. He was single when he arrived in South Carolina as were all of his other 46 shipmates. Autosomal DNA testing on over a dozen of his descendants has revealed a possible connection with several Donovan families, all from southern Ireland.
