I am seeking information on Edmond Eager, Sr., born circa 1808, and and his son, Edmond Eager, Jr., born circa 1840.  I believe they are from County Kerry, Ireland.  They both settled in Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA.

They may be connected to the Eagar family of County Kerry and Ballymalis Castle.  “The History of the Eagar Family in Kerry” notes that Edward Eagar and his brother Robert “settled in America”.  Please provide any information about Edward Eagar of Kerry, including his travel and settlement in America.

Best regards,

Tom Stevens

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

We are limited in what info we can provide. There is no census data for Co. Kerry prior to 1901. We do not have records for people who emigrated from Ireland in the 19th century. Civil registration of births, marriage and deaths did not begin until 1864 with the exception of non-RC marriages where civil registation started in 1845.

www.irishgenealogy.ie is a free site  If you access the Church records TAB for Edward or Edmund Eager in Co. Kerry you will get various records where an Edward/Edmund Eager was shown as the child, parent or sponsor or spouse for marriage records.

Were the Eagers that you are looking for Roman Catholic or Church of Ireland. There was a family in Killarney RC parish (parents Edward Eager and Ellen Burk) who had three children Ellen 1847 James 1849 and Edward 1850 (see below). Not sure if this is the family that you are looking for.
