I am looking for information regarding Eileen Hayes of Croagh,Co Limerick. Eileen was in her early twenties when she left Ireland to seek employment in Canada around 1966 and may have married there. I have tried to locate Eileen some time ago without success on this Forum. Thanking you, in anticipation. Tom.

  • Thomas,

Why not post a query on limerickpost.ie or limerickleader.ie? You might reach more people in the Croagh area that way.

    Good luck.

  • Thank you both for your replies..

Eileen and I were great friends and in our mid twenties when she emigrated to Canada in search of work around 1966.

We lost track of each other and I have often wondered if she took up residency, married and had a family in Canada

Eileen would be in her seventies now and I am in my eighties  and often wonder how her life turned out when we went our separate ways  55 years ago.

    Thank you,

    Thomas.

  • Thomas,

Would you mind giving us your last name or even what your hometown is?  Might help mom fill in some details.  Thank you.

  • Hi AMSG, thanks for your reply.

Eileen would have known me as Tom Martin from Bangor in N Ireland.

We  first met on holiday in Achill Island.

Eileen worked in the catering industry and travelled all over Ireland.

We  once  went to the Gate Theater in Dublin  and met up in Cork and Coleraine  where she was on business.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

    Thomas.

  • Thanks, Thomas for your reply.  Excuse the responses being a bit cagey but we are all a bit protective of identities!  Mom is delighted to hear from you.  She remembers you well and with the very little news these days and the world moving slower with Covid restrictions, you have provided some nice distraction to her and my dad as well.  She is not so keen on communicating through public forums so I wonder if you would mind sending me an email at EARSgoughfamily@gmail.com and I will pass your email on to my mom.  Looking forward to hearing from you by email.  By for now, AMSG
