Hello

I am trying to trace any details for my great-great grandmother (Eliza Kelly) she emigrated to New South Wales Australia arriving in January 1864 on board the "Ida". Her native place and county was recorded as Kildalky, Meath. Her immigration records show that she had relatives in New South Wales and aunt and uncle Laurence and Mary Murray (I believe these to be brother and sister). Her date of birth is 18th January 1837 and her parents as noted on her death certificate are Michael Kelly (cattle dealer) and Bridget Murray. In 1865 her brother Laurence emigrated to New South Wales on board the "St Hilda".

Any information you afford me in relation to relatives and history from Ireland would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

The subscription site Roots Ireland has a January 18 1837 baptismal record for a Betty Kelly with parents Michael Kelly and Biddy Murray. Biddy would be a nickname for Bridget. Betty would be a variant for Elizabeth. Kildalkey was the RC church.

Looks like she had at least seven younger siblings: Pat 1839 James 1841 Mary 1844 John 1847 Luke 1850 Micahel 1853 and another Patrick in 1855 (likely the first Patrick died young. All records in Kildalkey. No townland shown for the family.

It appears Micahel and Bridget were married February 15 1833 at the Athboy RC church.

The Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Kildalkey civil parish showed two Michael Kelly records. One in the townland of Kildalkey and the other in Portanab townland. Not sure which is your Michael.
