Hello. My great-great grandmother Eliza Mulrooney (nee Ahern) was born on 3 June 1850 in Killarney (parents Robert Ahern and Maria Fitzgerald). She married Patrick Mulrooney in 1873. He has an RIC constable. The family moved to Woodford in Galway after Patrick was stationed in Galway ER (East Riding). They had two boys and two girls. One of the girls died as an infant in Woodford or Loughrea. The second daughter was born in January 1877. Eliza died in Woodford sometime between that date and 1886 when Patrick remarried. I cannot find a death record for Eliza. Would anyone have any idea where I might find some sort of a death record? Would any of the churches have a record? First thoughts were the possibility that she died during childbirth. Or that she might have been somehow committed to St Brigid's in Ballinasloe (found a record for Isabella Mulrooney).

Thank you for any help!

  • Thanks, Col, for the info and for your efforts. Yep that is one of the daughters. The next daughter was also called Mary as was the tradition in those days. She was born a year later. Wondering if perhaps there were complications with her birth that led to Eliza's death. Frustrating that there is no death cert or any record. Thanks again
