Hi, I'm looking for the predecessors of the above people (B 1841 and 1830 respectively)

According to my research, they had 7/8 living Children including: Thomas francis, Michael, Timothy, Bridget and John. I'm stumped as to the parentage of each of them. Can anyone help with records?

Thank you!

The subscription site Roots Ireland has Carrick on Suir RC records back to the late 1700s with some gaps in records. I did a search and did not find any baptismal records or civil birth records for children of Patrick Harrigan and Ellen O'Donnell. I did see two civil birth records for a Peter Horrigan (1877) father Michael Horrigan and mother Ellen O'Donnell and then a Thomas Harrigan (1879) with the same parents living in Carrick on Suir. Do you have any additional info that might help us with the family?

    Hi Roger,

I believe the following is the correct information regarding their children: Peter, Thomas Francis, Bridget (possibly born the same year as TF), Timothy, Peter, Patrick, James, Michael and John (obviously a good possibility they had others, Patrick is my line)

John seems to have married a Bridget Hynes, Michael- Ann O'Neill, Patrick married Bridget Weston, Timothy a Johanna Lynch and Thomas Francis a Jane Bateman (moved to Wales).

It would appear that Michael was born in 1830 and Ellen 1841 (ish). Michael died in Carrick-on-suir workhouse in 1916 of TB (was was about 81) it would seem that at leasst one of the children was born in the workhouse hospital.

I've seen records that spell Harrigan as Horrigan or Hourighan, and O'donnell as Donnelly.

Does this help at all? Thanks so much for looking!

    BW, Emma

See second record at this link  https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_re…;  This is the 1893 civil marriage record for John Harrigan and Bridget Hynes in Carrick on Suir. The father's name for John is listed as Michael Harrigan and they lived in Greenside.

See first record  https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_re…;  This is the 1897 marriage record for Michael Harrigan and Anne O'Neill-- father shown as Michael

This may be Michael, Ellen and Timothy in the 1901 census.  http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Tipperary/Carrick_On_S…

Michael and Anne in 1901 census  http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Tipperary/Carrick_On_S…

Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Hi Roger,

Thank you so much for these, they are extremely helpful.

I've been looking specifically for their son Patrick, but have recently uncovered the possibility that he may, in fact, have been their nephew. The only record I can find for Patrick on rootsIreland has his father as Timothy, and Mother as Mary Flemming. He wqas born the same year (1874) and does appear to have died in 1943, as my records suggest.

Patrick married Bridget Weston, and had between 6-8 children, Including my Gt Grandfather. It would appear that he and Bridget also brought up one of his Brother's children after the death of his father.

I'm not sure if i'm on the right track with Patricks parentage, but i'll keep exploring- Many thanks for all of your help, hugely appreciated! :)
