James Golden (no middle initial) is my great grandfather who came from Ireland, but from where exactly, I don't know. I'd like to find out since I plan to travel to Ireland next year on a quest for my ancestors.  It appears he was born 1844. Was naturalized October 28, 1872, in the Circuit Court of Baltimore. He was married June 12, 1867, to Anna M. Blucher at United Brethren in Baltimore.  

I'd like to know as much about James Golden and where he came from in Ireland. Any information on the Golden family there would be greatly appreciated.

  • I did find a James Golden born 7th July 1842.   father is Moses Golden and Mother is Mary Long.

    There are a number of James Goldens who were baptized in the 1840s. The subscription site Roots Ireland shows another four in 1842 in addition to the record Margot located, three in 1843 , six in 1844, two in 1845 and five in 1846. You will need to search for records in America that would show the parents names for your James Golden. Also, a general DNA  test may give you matches on your Golden line and your matches may have more info on the origins of your family in Ireland.

  • About 30 years ago I was renovating a house in Massachusetts and I found some letters to a woman named Nellie golden from a man named golden in Baltimore. In the letter he sounded like a close relative as he said he was surprised she was marrying a man named William Rice who was not of her religion. She married Rice but they had no children.Nellie died in 1964 or1965. In the letter Golden mentions another relative in Toronto,Canada.  Nellie Golden came from Ballinaglera,Dowra area of county Leitrim, I hope this is of some help. Good luck in your search. I think one of the relatives was a lawyer but I’m not sure.
