  • Hi,

Thanks for your message. I hope that someone with info makes a connection with you and helps you to further you research.

In the meantime, have you tried looking at church records for more information? Most Catholic records are held locally so you may need to write to the local parish priest for possible assistance. One website that you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. It also shows you where copies of the records are available. For Cashel  parish, follow this link:

    http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/fuses/rcparishmaps/index.cfm?fuseaction=showidrecords&CityCounty=Tipperary%20South&parish=Cashel&churchid=253

You could also try searching online at:

www.familysearch.org has a huge database of genealogical records including some church records for Ireland.

www.rootsireland.ie have a large collection of Irish Church records, however you have to pay to use this site.

Civil registration began in Ireland in 1864 so any births, deaths or marriages in the family after this date would be recorded in these records. Civil records are available from the General Register?s Office. Here are their contact details:

    Fax:+353 90 663 2999

You can search the indexes to these records up to 1958 online at:

    https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1408347

You could also check for record of the family in the land records pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century. There are two:

The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp

    and Griffith?s Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/

Some other websites that may be useful are:

The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/

The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx

  • Hello, I am interested in your Flood relatives from Cashel who once were living in the City of Utica, NY during  the 1800's.  My great grandmother Margarere Barry's sister Catherine Barry was married to a Timothy Flood.  The Floods and Barry's  were all born in Cashel during the 1840's of 1850's and lived in Utica, NY from approximately 1870 to their deaths in the first 30 years of the 1900s.. I would think that your Floods and my Floods were some how related but I have no proof of that and almost no records.  Obituaries say that the Flood's and Barry's were from Cashel.  Any thoughts or ideas about these folks would be appreciated.  The Floods of Timothy Barry of Utica left almost no descendents so there is no way to follow up with them.

    A response would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Stephen in Saratoga, NY.
