Good Morning All,
I am looking for info on Michael Glynn and Bridget Glynn (Kelly). They had several children. One of them was Thomas Joseph Glynn. He was my great grandfather. According to his headstone in Massachusetts, he was born in 1859. I have seached Roots, and film from the Mormon church. The film quallity was so poor, unable to read. I did find a birth record that I believe to me his sister Rose Glynn. She was born in Clonbrock. around 1864. I looked on Griffith's valuation and a Michael Glynn appears with some Kelly's. They lived in Keave, which I believe has been renamed. They were flax farmers. I do not know if this is the correct family.
Thanks,
Diann

Diann:
Here is the civil birth index record for Rose (civil registration began in 1864). If you want to get a copy of the record, you need to write to the GRO www.groireland.ie fill out their form and provide the year, registration district (Mountbellew) and the volume and page number (14 and 397). The townland is still called Keave today. Use Google Maps to find the location. I also checked the 1901 census and there was a Glynn and Kelly family in the townland at that time. www.census.nationalarchives.ie

I looked at www.familysearch.org and found this marriage record. I believe this is the same couple that is living in Keave in 1901. Since the parents of Michael Glynn were Michael Glynn and Bridget Kelly, I assume that Michael was the older brother of Thomas.

Another piece to the jig saw. We have a Dooley DNA connection to the Kelly's from this region, although we haven't been able to find yet just how we connect. My gggrandmother Mary Dooley, daughter of Edward, was from Clonbrock. I'm thinking Edward may have been working for the Dillon family from Clonbrock Estate. I have seen many Dooley's from this region that were also flax farmers.
It would be good to read through the Clonbrock Papers, which are apparently housed at the National Library of Ireland. Tenants and servants are apparently listed within these papers. Need a trip to Ireland.
Cheers, Kerryn
