Robert HALLINAN c1834 married Catherine LAHIFF c1836 on February 3, 1856 in St. Michael's, Limerick City.  Children: Mary 1856 baptized St. Michael's, Limerick City (probably died as child), Francis Joseph 1857 baptized St. Michael's, Limerick City, James P. 1858 Depford England, Patrick 1860 Limerick(not sure if this is their child), Robert Joeph 1866 Depford England, Mary Katherine 1867 Depford England, Frances Theresa 1869 Depford England.

The family were enumerated in the 1861 census in Depford, England where Robert went to work as a shipwright.  By 1870 they had relocated to Ontario, Canada.

I am trying to find the parents of Robert Hallinan 1834 and Catherine Lahiff 1836.

Thank you.

Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie has an 1834 baptism for a Robert Hallinan in St. Michaels RC parish. Roots is a pay site to view the record. I think it costs 5 euros per record. I did not look for Catherine Lahiff.

  • Roger:  I couldn't find an 1834 baptism for Robert Hallinan St. Michaels, Limerick.

Unfortunately I let my credits run out so will have to order more.

There is a Robert Hallinan 1838 St. Michaels, Limerick but I haven't that record.

I previously paid for records of Robert Hallinan St. Michaels born Oct. 29, 1827 and Catherine Lahiff baptized Oct. 6, 1826 St. Patridck's Limerick, and a marriage for Robert Hallinan and Catherine Lahiff St. Michael's February 3, 1856.

The 1820 birth dates were promising as both names (Robert and Catherine) are found but are 10 years earlier than all other documentation for my Robert and Catherine.  The marriage record appears correct.  Unfortunately parents are not listed.  Only transcriptions are available not actual documents.

Sorry. I went back and checked and the record I found was the 1838 Robert Hallinan. I forgot that I did 1834 +- 5 years.

  • Hello,

I am searching for information on Hallinans, but they came from County Clare, however, I was interested to note the Lahiff name!!

I have a GGGrandmother Ellen Lahiff 1826 - 1876 who married a Martin Cronin 1828 - 1876 at St. John's in Limerick  Her parents were a Michael Lahiff born 1805 and Bridget McNamara.  Ellen and Michael migrated to Australia after marrying and had 5 children. Could they have been related??
