Hello,

Wondering if there are any Henrys remaining in Maghera, and if any of them have had DNA testing done.

They (or some of them) are maternally descended from Eoghan Ruadh O'Neill, the famous General of the Ulster Army, as am I. They were in possesssion of the famous picture of him at the time O'Laverty wrote his History of Down and Connor.

Would be interested to compare DNA if any Henrys have been tested.

My descent from Eoghan Ruadh is :

General Eoghan Ruadh O'Neill - Colonel Brian O'Neill - Captain Aodh Dubh O'Neill (Antrim's regiment at the Boyne) - Mary O'Neill (1691-1791) - Hugh O'Neill Esq. of Carlane - Felix Cunningham O'Neill of Carlane and Drumderg in the Feevagh - Charles Henry O'Neill The O'Neill of Clanaboy - Elizabeth O'Neill - Charles O'Neill Conroy K.C. O.B.E. - Edward Patrick Conroy - Charles James Conroy - Rian O'Maolchonaire

I am not sure of the particulars of the Henrys descent from him, just that O'Laverty notes they are his matrilineal descendants.

O'Maoilchonaire
