  • Patricia:

I looked at Roots Ireland  www.rootsireland.ie. for baptismal records in Co. Offaly. I found a Hugh Flattery baptismal record in 1835 in the Clonbulloge RC church records. Parents were Patrick and Eliza. I was unable to find a record for a Daniel Flattery in the same time period.

Roots is a pay site to view a transcription of a church record.

I checked the 1854-1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Co. Offaly and there were 13 Flattery entries mostly in Gallen, Eglish and Kilbride civil parishes. www.askaboutireland.ie has the Griffiths data.

I would consider the baptismal record as a lead but you should try to locate the parents names from a death record or other source.

Let me know if you have questions.
