We are looking for imformation about James Carolan, b. abt. 1794 in County Meath, Irleand and died abt. 1888 in, perhaps, Iowa. James was married to Catherine Murphy, born in County Meath Ireland and died in the United States at age 50. When James and Catherine came to the the United States, New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1830, bringing their son, Thomas M. Carolan, b. 15 Sep. 1818, in Ireland. It is thought that they left older children in County Meath. It is said that James was a sailing man while in county Meath. We have no way to be sure of that.
