I am looking for some information regarding my great great grandfather, John O'Shaughnessy who was from Gort as was his wife, Ann Kallagher I believe.   I think they may have both died around 1852 and may be buried in the cemetary there.  I wondered if you had any record of this or maybe it is another parish in Gort?

thank you,

Brigid

I am responding about your O'Shaughnessy inquiry.

My Shaughnessys came from Lissardboola in County Kerry.  I have a couple of John Shaughnessys, and

have a couple of birh dates.

Tralee is about 100 miles from Gort.  There exists a possibility they are of the same family.

  • I live near Liverpool uk.

My O'SHAUGHNESSY Family hail from Co GALWAY and came to Liverpool in around 1847-49.

JOHN O'SHAUGHNESSY married MARY ANN RIGNEY in I beleive to be the LOUGHREA area Co GALWAY.

MARY ANN'S father is JAMES RIGNEY and her mother is FRANCES RAFFERTY.

Im unsure which part of Co Galway my family hail from.

    Good Luck in your search.xx
