I am seeking any information about a John Ring who was a native of Cloyne, Co. Cork and who married Annie O: Sullivan.  They had 14 children in Brooklyn, NY. Annie was also born in Ireland.  The most recent ancestor I have been able to trace is a Dorothy McQuade who is buried in Brooklyn with her Great Grand Parents John and Annie and a range of other relations.  I have been able to develop a line of descent frm John Ring to Dorothy.  My main hope is that someone in the Cloyne area might have some knowledge of this family.  My purpose is to try and connect Annie Sullivan to her Irish Roots by perhaps finding a connection to John Ring's Roots.  See Tree Below.

Thanks,

Frank

  • Hi Reets,

The difficulty with this case is as you know is that Cloyne is both a town and a Diocese so the hope would be that out there we might hear of a relation who might have known of a Grand Uncle who left these shores for America.

    Regards,

  • Frank,

The Griffth's would suggest that John & Denis were living in the town of Cloyne and leasing from the Bishop.  Allison10 replied to my posting and stated the RIngs were her family so you might want to reach out to her

    Hi Reets,

In the meantime some progress has been made on the JOHN RING ancestry.  The Ring Tree has now been brought, in the Cloyne area, up to the 1940's with HANNAH MARIA DALY's marriage in 1935 to Maurice COSTINE and the birth of their three children: James, David and William at River Street, Cloyne.  Regrettably, I have been unable to advance HANNAH's family any further.  I do know that James died as an infant but have not been able to find any information on James' siblings David and William.  In an effort to try and locate someone who might be able to explain what happened to the family in River Street of even any of HANNAH's other relatives I began to investigate Maurice's siblings and was able to uncover the fact that four of his sisters emigrated to the U.S.; MARGARET (RITA), MARY, JOHANNA AND BRIDGET.  Much more of the detail is contained in the attached Tree.  It would be great to speak with anyone who may have knewn the Daly's or Costines or Rings to whom I refer.

    Thanks Again,

    Frank
