Further to my previous post.  The PATRICK MEADE  in Coolooney Street I now don't think is mine.  After searching the Census that Patrick Meade was a Van Driver.  Apologies.

  • Hi Jane,

Sincere apologies I am very new to researching Irish Family HIstory.   I have since been roaming around different sites and have found that the Patrick Meade in Coolooney Street is probably the one I am searching for.  My Patrick is listed as a Tailor on one of his daughters marriage Certificates.

So here are  my thoughts:  Patrick Meade is listed in Colooney Street Occuapation Tailor  in the 1810-1887  Poverty Relief Funds  in 1843,  1842  and 1823.   The Event Type is Flourish.

Can someone please tell me what Flourish means.

Also, I have found the death of a Patrick Meade in 1892 address as  Ellen Street, Limerick.  I am hoping to find information that  connects my Patrick Meade in Colooney Street to the Patrick Meade in Ellen street, between  the years 1886  -  1929, and also Meade Bros. Drapers in 52 William Street in 1957.

I am asking a lot, but would appreciate any help I can get.

    Many thanks

    Judy

  • Hi Judy,

Can you give me some more info on your Patrick Meade?

I will then look through the local records myself and see what I can find for you.

If you like you can email me directly at croom@irelandxo.com.

  • Good morning Maresa,

Thank you for your reply.  The information I have from various sources is as follows:

Patrick meade married Catherine Hartigan in 1833.  Their first children were born 1835, twin girls Margaret and Mary.   Other children were Catherine, Patrick, and Francis that I know of.

I have a copy of the 1850-53 Griffiths House and Land Valuation citing Patrick Meade renting House & Yard from Thomas  Spellassy in Coolooney/Westland Street Limerick

I have Patrick Meade Tailor in the Poverty Relief Funds 1810-1887 in the years  1823, 1842, 1843  in Colooney street..

I have been through the directories iand found Patrick Meade Tailors & Outfitters in 15 Ellen Street from 1886  -18911

I have a death for Patrick Meade from Ellen Street in 1892.   There are P.Meades and P.H. Meade Tailors & OIutfitters in 18 Ellen Street from 1905 until 1929 and Meade Bros. Drapers in 52 William Streeet.

I also have a Joseph Meade living in 18 Ellen Street from 1912 until 1914.

The twins Margaret and Mary left Limerick in 1853 travelled to Liverpool and boarded the ship New Zealander and sailed to Australia.

On Margaret;s marriage certificate I have her father's occupation as that of Tailor.

My questions and queries are:  when did Catherine Meade die, .  Are all the Meades in Ellen Street connected to my Patrick., and would there be any descendants of my Patrick still searching for Margaret and Mary in Australia.  In fact would they have known that the girls reached Australia alive?    I haven't been able to trace Mary at all here in Australia.

That is as much information I have on my Meade famiy in Ireland.  Is it possible there is more information to find out I wonder, and I also wonder if Patrick and Catherine ever received information about Margaret in Australia..

Hope all thisis of some help.

    Many thanks

    Judey
