Yes, Eileen, this is the correct James Kiernan and Mary Rasdell.  Now, I just need to find the baptism records for their first two daughters.  Thanks for your response.

Most of the surviving Church of Ireland records for Dublin city parishes are available on the free IrishGenealogy website, so that's the best place to start for online searches.  There are a couple of difficulties that crop up with searches like this - the first is that families did not always stay in the one location and parish, as demonstrated by the baptisms - Clanbrassil St. and Malpas St., the second is that mother's maiden surnames are not usually recorded on Church of Ireland baptisms - making it more difficult to pick out the correct family. As a minor compensation CofI baptisms often include father's occupation, and are a little better at including residences than Catholic baptisms.

Baptism records for St. Werburgh's go back to about 1704 and a quick check shows between 200 and 1,000 every decade from the 1700s up to the 1890s, similar numbers for St.NIcholas Without CofI but they seem to cut off in the 1860s. There could also be undocumented gaps and damaged pages, bad handwriting etc

There are complications with several Church of Ireland parishes in the area, e.g. records for St. Andrew's Church were lost in the events at the public records office and many had also been lost in an earlier fire at St. Andrew's in the 1860s - St. Andrew's is close to St. NIcholas and St. Werburghs.  St. NIcholas Without at one time used part of St. Patrick's Cathedral, and was also joined to St. Luke's for a time..

Some registers for Dublin city Church of Ireland records have images uploaded, which allow browing using the previous/next links, which would allow a check for mistranscriptions etc, but the St. NIcholas Withput and some others dont appear to have the imaged available

I checked for possible children using wildcard searched e.g. k*r*n*n* and parents first names as ja*  and mar* - but found nothing promising..

I also checked some directories to see if your James might be listed... unfortunately no sign - the address at Lwr. Claanbrassil Street (61) is shown as Thomas Brennan, house painter in 1856  and 1858 , so your Kiernan family probably lived over the shop, or in some sort accommodation behind the premesis, numbers 10 to 15 Malpas street are listed as tenements.
