I hope after a long time to have connected my gt grandmother who died in 1900 at Braddock, PA a Pittsburgh suburb to Thomas Cullinane, 1818-1908 who lived later in life at Ower in Killanin. In 1901 he is at Ower living in his son Hugh's household.
In US Bridget Cullinane used Cullen when she married and on her children's baptismal certificates. Bridget was born about 1857 and died in February, 1900. Her husband Michael Henneghan died in 1895. Living with Bridget was her neice Maggie Cullen. Maggie was born in 1869 to Hugh Cullinane, 1848-1922 and Ellen O'Dea. A Bridget Cullinane was the godmother for Maggie, who was baptized at Moycullen. Maggie died in May, 1900.
Distant relatives raised Bridget's three children. Her children did not know how they wrer related to the people who raised then. There were West Galway names on the perifery of Bridget and Maggie's lives. A Patrick Melia reported Bridget's death to the county clerk. Maggie was buried in a plot owned by an O'Dea. And there were Laffey cousins from Moycullen.
I would like to contact any descendents ot Thomas Cullinane or anyone related to him.
Thank you
John E. Corrigan

The 1911 Census has only one Hugh Cullinane at Ower a farmer
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Galway/Wormhole/Ower/4…
Residents of a house 13 in Ower (Wormhole, Galway)

Hugh aged 69 in 1911 is listed asthe FATHER of Patrick who is 31 born 1879/80 then
Maybe I have the wrong house or they entered the names in the wrong order?
There is no Hugh in the 1901 Galway census and no Thomas or any other Cullinane in Ower. It may be a different rendering of the spelling?

Mr. Corrigan
My name is Hugh O'Connell. I'm 21 years old from Quincy, MA. My mother is Eileen O'Connell n?e Cullinane from Ower West, Roscahill Co. Galway Ireland. I have an uncle named Patrick Cullinane who still farms the land that has been in our family for as far back as anyone could attest to. I am the namesake of my mother's father, Hugh Cullinane who himself also inherited the name from his grandfather; the Hugh Cullinane that you referred to in your post. I have been to Moycullen several times and seen the graves at the old Killanin parish. The Cullinane family continues to exist in Moycullen.
What I have heard of Thomas Cullinane is that he and his brother Connor went to Pittsburgh and found work as bookkeepers. They were supposedly educated to read and write in Greek.
I believe I have the capacity to answer a few of the questions you might have. I hope you will find my response before too long and get back to me.
Thank you,
Hugh O'Connell
