Hello my name is Vivian Sanders. I am looking for information on my Great-Grandfather and his parents if possible. Here is what I know.
Name: Jackson John Trotter b. 1870
Youghal, Ireland
He left the European area, New Castle, in 1893 and arrived in Elis Island on 3 March. He used the name John once he arrived in the States.
There are only 2 known records on him, his arrival at Elis Island, and his death certificate.
I would like to find out more about Jackson John Trotter and where I came from. Any assistence you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Vivian

Hi,
Have you tried the English Census returns for more information? I had a quick look at the 1891 UK census and there is a John Trotter, aged 21, born in 1870 listed in Newcastle Upon Tyne (Northumberland). Unfortunately I can't view the actual record as it's a paid service to access. There isn't a record of him in 1881 by the looks of things so he may have moved over from Ireland between 1881 and 1891 (which would be likely given as he would be 11 in 1881).
Youghal baptismal records are available online from Mallow Heritage Centre, but again a fee is required to access them.
Hope that helps.
